The oceans are full
of human hair
and bloated bodies
caught by a whaler’s harpoon
Somewhere on the streets
a bird attempts
to snatch an eyeball,
to catch a glimpse
of mortal doom
It drops it
over and over
And, frustrated,
it flies away,
never knowing what it’s like
to be human,
but aping it all too well
