Leo Eguiarte is a Los Angeles-based artist. Painter by trait, and a visual artist by nature. His work mainly deals with the opposite polarities of those who have it all versus those who are in dire need. A proud son of immigrant parents, Leo Eguiarte’s American experiences are shaped as an in/outsider through this post civil rights hostile environment that preaches freedom for all, yet limits opportunities for the majority. His work often references symbolism found in ancient cultures and the appropriation of it from groups outside them. Through this dynamic the work conveys how history tends to repeat itself.
