Thomas Patrick Levy

How much longer must I dress like leaves while you shiver on the curb. I rest your tongue, poke at my heart with a stick.

Wintertime, a few more weeks.

I carry a small rock around as if it were a coin. I wear a raincoat of plastic bags, the car won’t start. Everything is drained like a battery, your heavy cheeks, a pair of boots.

How much longer must I leave you in your dress. Your tongue, my hair, the change on the curb.
