about the artist

Ron Kurniawan is a picture maker based in California with a taste for the pop surreal. His pictures are composed by juxtaposing two or more completely different ideas and merging them into one to create something wholly different. It is a mixture of animals, bubblegum, candy, robots, dreams, sex, fur, kaiju, the romantic, fantasy, mythology, peeps, fruits, patterns and type. It’s a daydream that is giving birth to reality. An Art Center graduate majoring in making cool stuff, RK has worn many different hats, from being a fine artist to production designing a big feature. He just wants to make imagery and stories that are fun and compelling. Right now there are a couple of features and shows he is currently working on, alongside a book and a long overdue gallery show. New projects are always welcome. Main inspirations are derived from the magical world he lives in with his wife, three kids, and a pug.
