about the artist

Leonard Kogan’s current works appoint amid a philosophical and psychic catechize. Where human-like representations undergo psychological atomization in search for self-identification and restructure. A compositional structure in his works represents fragmentary set-stages. He attempts to examine the topos of contradictions and irrationality, dehumanization and deformation, assimilation and dissimilation, displacement and migration. The hybrid, the incomplete and the fragmentary are conceived as underlying principles of Kogan’s visual representations and are conceptualized via such concepts as the sequence-image, repetition the rebus and the moments of exuberant melancholy. He participates in solo and group shows in Europe and the USA.
