A line forms over the water,
a passing trick of light.
Now a wide swatch of gunmetal.
What’s opaque is forgiving—
conjuring a little island.
Not thinking of Milwaukee,
a place we’ve never been,
no point of connection.
Just the roseglow
on the plane’s wing, the winding
blue trajectory.
