> IF I AWOKE: THOUGHTS ON THE APOCALYPSE | anonymous

If I awoke and found
it were the world's last day.
If I awoke to burning skies,
the incandescent mountains fused
to melting field and cave and clouds.
If I awoke and knew that dusk
would see my charred and twisted remnants
silenced on the earth.

I only ask one thing.
That the grim spectre
find me wrapped against the night with you—
in one another's molten hell.

> BIOGRAPHY | about the author

Anonymous is a struggling writer/artist/musician and prospective attorney from Kentucky who lives in New York City. She dreams of one day working for ACLU, and eventually becoming a White House advisor. After that, she wants to retire to a crusty old professorship and publish learned dissertations. In the meanwhile, she continues to write embarrassing and exaggerated stories about the people she's known and things she's seen.
