The woman on my hairband packaging looks
like my friend Heather. So much so that I say hello
to her each time I slide a black ring of rubber down
the cardboard. I think the executives who chose her
as their Goody package model would be delighted
by my warm reaction to their “Goody Girl.” Me,
I’m just grasping desperately to any strand
of happiness the morning will offer.
